MKE Week 17HJ – The True Hero
Such a powerful week as the Hero’s Journey is highlighted. And with it comes a choice to take the journey to become a hero or not. As I highlighted during this week in 2019 it’s a time to reflect and think about how to answer the call. But it’s also a time to make a choice after reviewing the journey up until now.
Time To Make a Choice
There is no doubt that the journey of uncovering the gold, the greatness inside can be difficult with many ups and downs. It’s why when faced with a choice many will choose to return to the comfort of the known, life as it had been. Others will not move forward with this powerful journey due to being confused about what to do. And then there are the heroes who rise to the challenge and continue on the journey.
Hero Development In Progress
See when this journey begins it involves a realization that around us is the river of dreams. This river is a symbol of society telling us how to act, how to feel, how to live because “everyone is doing it”. An illusion that life is easy when you let others make decisions for you, likely sacrificing your authentic self in the process. As the weeks have progressed the definite major purpose has been refined; the blueprint builder read multiple times along with both a scroll each month from The Greatest Salesman In the World and chapters from Haanel’s The Master Key System; and the tools provided used to develop powerful habits. The result being a hero starting to emerge.
As this emergence unfolds the doubt ultimately begins to creep in. Am I really a hero? The answer would be yes.
“”I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.”Maya Angelou
And that’s what myself and others going through this spectacular journey are doing. Each of us is doing it by focusing intently on achieving a definite major purpose, developing noble qualities of kindness and gratitude, practicing the law of giving and receiving, and ultimately having the courage to rise above among other things. The result manifesting in becoming true heroes, first in our own lives and then in the lives of others.
What Others Are Saying
Fellow MKE sojourner Susan talks about how this hero’s journey continues after the call has been answered as well. And Joseph reflects on why so many are reluctant to answer in the first place. Take the time to check these terrific blogs out!
Excellent blog post, Brad! I especially like: “Each of us is doing it by focusing intently on achieving a definite major purpose, developing noble qualities of kindness and gratitude, practicing the law of giving and receiving, and ultimately having the courage to rise above…”
And yes, using Ms. Angelou’s definition of a hero is a good choice. If it weren’t for a few self-serving individuals proving “absolute power corrupts absolutely,” the world would be far better off. The world is full of heroes! 🙂
Thank you Loren. The world is definitely full of heroes!
Brad, thanks for talking about The Hero’s Journey. From your blog rover friend John.
